Engineering Department

External diagnosis of the project management of the CM4 innovation project

In 2014, the electric traction department is leading CM4, an innovation project that has developed an industrial demonstrator of a high-speed contact wire section measurement system. The transition from the industrial phase to the production start-up phase required technical and financial analyses.

Our missions:

  • Analyze the various technical reports and summaries written in order to assess the performance of the system installed on the measurement train and the dynamic calibration lorry
  • Analyze the impact and risks associated with adding new functionalities to the system never tested in previous phases of the CM4 project
  • Analyze the file of passage pending decision on the argumentation and financial aspect (calculation of ROI, NPV…)
  • Propose recommendations on documents and presentation strategy

Our deliverables:

  • Diagnostics on the deliverables produced
  • Draft of technical requirements for measurement systems
  • Proposed strategy to build the best case for key decision-makers

Eurailscout France

Analysis of the Overhead Contact Line measurement performance of the UFM160

Logo eurailscout

Specialised in the measurement and analysis of railway infrastructure data, Eurailscout designs and operates measurement vehicles such as the UFM160 to monitor the state of Europe’s rail track infrastructure by recording various parameters (signalling, clearance, track or overhead contact line).

The UFM160 is therefore being analysed to determine whether its overhead contact line (OCL) geometry measurement performance meets SNCF requirements in terms of accuracy and reliability.

The Eurailscout teams, who already have expertise in the processing of acquisition data, are also seeking to deepen their knowledge of the OCL field in order to better interpret the measurement results.

Our missions:

  • Analyse and evaluate the performance of OCL geometry measurements based on the various measurement readings and technical reports
  • Participate in the improvement of the machines measurement quality in production and the new acquisition systems under development
  • Train Eurailscout experts in the OCL field

Our deliverables:

  • Briefing notes and reports on measurement results
  • Introductory session to OCL infrastructure

Keywords: Railway expertise, performance analysis, measurement systems, overhead contact line

Directorate General Idf – Studies Directorate

Support for the operational implementation of the SDMR study platform

The Rolling Stock Master Plan (SDMR) is an industrial program that will enable 720 new or renovated trains to be put into operation by the end of 2021 on RER and suburban lines in the Paris Region. To produce the studies specific to the SDMR project, the Île-de-France General Management has innovated in its way to organize its design office. It has created a platform dedicated to the project and made up of mixed SNCF and SETEC (external engineering office) teams.

Our missions:

  • Support in the thinking of the organization of the platform and its initial implementation
  • Support in the analysis of the risks related to this new organization
  • Provide expertise on the organization and draft the documents necessary for the operational functioning of the platform

Our deliverables:

  • Synthesis and control documents
  • Organizational note
  • Documents necessary for the steering and decision-making bodies

Klapoti

Formalising IT management rules

Logo eurailscout

Klapoti has developed an innovative digital solution to bring strategic issues to the heart of companies. The rapid and successful launch of its software was possible thanks to an Agile approach.

Through the user manual, several test scenarios and feature description sheets, the software’s management rules have been partially formalised.

To date, the exhaustive functioning of the software is only known by the founder and her developer.

In order to ensure the software durability and to prepare for the arrival of new employees, Klapoti wishes to use a method to formalise the existing management rules and the new functionalities.

Our missions:

  • Identify the method to describe the management rules
  • Select digital solutions to implement this method
  • Write the management rules by applying the chosen method and digital solution

Our deliverables:

  • Method to formalise IT management rules
  • Management rules written in the format co-constructed with the client and in the selected tool

Keywords: Technical writing, formalisation, IT management rules, Agile
